TIP SPF 180 sand filter system 30307

TIP pool filter system SPF 180 - Efficient solution for pool water cleaning and circulation

The SPF 180 is a compact but powerful pool filter system that is perfect for pools of up to 20 m³. The set consists of a pool pump and a filter container with numerous important functions: filtering, backwashing (cleaning the filter), rinsing (removing suspended matter in the sand), winter setting (opening all valves to relieve the seals - perfect for winter storage). It is easy to use via a 4-way valve. We recommend an average cleaning time of around 8 hours per day. To maintain crystal-clear pool water, the pump has a high filter performance with low power consumption. The set can be assembled and put into operation quickly and easily.

Note: Quartz sand is not included in delivery.

Finding the right filter system:

A pump that is incorrectly sized for your pool can be very annoying. While a system with too little power will not clean the water sufficiently, a pump that is too large will use more electricity than necessary and cost an unnecessary amount of money.

Calculating the appropriate filter performance:

Depending on the level of use and dirtiness, the pool contents should be circulated twice a day. The recommended operating time is 8 to 9 hours per day. Smaller paddling pools in which the water stands for long periods of time can become a reservoir for germs.

The following example will quickly show you how to calculate the appropriate filter performance for your pool.

Calculation example:

Your pool contains 20 m³ of water

20 m³ x 2 = 40 m³

45 m³ : 9 hours = 5 m³/h

Result:

For a pool volume of 20 m³ you need a filter system that pumps at least 5 m³/h.

Cleaning:

In general, sand filters are easier to clean than cartridge filters, which either need to be rinsed or replaced. To clean a sand filter, simply set the system to "backwash".

It works like this: Normally, the dirty water flows through the filter from top to bottom: the dirt collects mainly in the upper layers of the quartz sand.

If you now set the multi-way valve to "backwash", the system is flushed from bottom to top. The dirt is flushed out via a separate channel and the filter performance is usually optimal again.

This "rinse cycle" should be carried out at least once a week. It takes about 2 to 4 minutes. If the pool becomes very dirty during the week, the backwash may take a little longer. Afterwards, rinse again for about a minute.

In addition, you should always backwash the pool after cleaning the floor and/or the pool walls, as a lot of dirt is stirred up during cleaning and gets stuck in the filter. The backwash cycle should be used even if the filter is dirty.

TIP: The pressure in the tank is displayed on the so-called pressure gauge and you can use this to see whether backwashing is necessary. If the pressure increases, there is greater resistance in the form of contamination in the tank. The filter should be cleaned with a backwash.

Delivery rate and delivery head:

3.0 m – 3,800 l/h

1.0 m – 6,600 l/h

The flow rate of a pump depends mainly on the discharge head. The term 'discharge head' refers to the height difference between the water surface and the water outlet. The table above shows the performance of the SPF 180 pool filter system at different discharge heads. For example, with a discharge head of 1.0 meters, this pump can expect a flow rate of 6,600 liters per hour.
