Differences between Kaldewei built-in basin, countertop basin, undercounter basin and wall-hung basin

Kaldewei wash basins are unique in their shape thanks to their iconic appeal designed by Anke Salomon and Arik Levy as well as to their superior material – selfmade resistant Kaldewei steel enemel. They are offered in four versions – built-in basin, countertop basin, wall-hung basin and undercounter basin. But what are the differences of these four Kaldewei wash basins and where are the most suitable?

Kaldewei countertop basin: Countertop wash basins are very trendy and have become popular with more and more bathroom owners. They are just placed onto any console or base cabinet and optimally enhance their elegant design, because they are not hidden in the cabinet. This is the reason why the most countertop wash basins look plain and simple. Kaldewei countertop wash basins particularly are the right solution for all who prefer formal clarity and puristic design. It doesn’t matter whether you prefer a high border, like the countertop wash basins of the Kaldewei Cono series, or a low basin, like the wash basins of the Kaldewei Silienio series, a harmoniously round wash bowl of the Kaldewei Miena series, or an expressively rectangular form, like the countertop wash basins of the Kaldewei Puro series, Kaldewei offers a wide range of different countertop wash basins and thus has the right solution for every taste.

Kaldewei built-in basin: As the name already indicates, built-in wash basins are made for the installation in a console or any vanity unit. They are inserted in the vanity unit from above, so that its cutout is covered by the basin’s lip. Thus the body of the basin disappears in the vanity unit and only the interior basin remains visible. Thanks to their low edge height Kaldewei built-in wash basins are flush mounted, so that only little border remains visible and thus ensures perfect aesthetics in the bathroom. So it is the ideal version for everybody who prefers a discreet and simple design. Kaldewei offers built-in wash basins with clear lines, like wash basins of the Kaldewei Puro series, as well as with soft roundings, like wash basins of the Kaldewi Emerso series.

Kaldewei undercounter basin: Kaldewei undercounter wash basins are especially popular with minimalists. In contrast to built-in wash basins the installation of the undercounter wash basin is made from below. Here the wash basin is mounted under the console or the vanity unit, so that it ends flush and totally without rim. The result is the same: only the inside of the basin is visible. The advantage of this version is the bigger storage surface around the wash basins. Thus, you can use directly the console or the vanity unit to place your care products or accessories instead of using the lateral surface of rim of the basin. As with all other Kaldewei wash basins also here you have the choice between Kaldewei undercounter wash basins with clear lines, like for example the series Kaldewei Puro, and with soft curves, like for example the series Kaldewei Emerso.

Kaldewei wall-hung basin: Wall-hung wash basins are mounted freely suspended with the rear to the wall and do not need neither a console nor a vanity unit – the perfect solution for small bathrooms or for anyone with high demand for minimalism. Thanks to the fact that there is no console, nor a vanity unit needed wall-hung wash basins are shown to their best advantage, even if the siphon is visible. And there are elegant and discreet Kaldewei design siphons available to solve even this problem very quickly. And if you prefer round shapes, Kaldewei offers here also the right solution; even if the installation of the wash basin to the wall requires an even and rectangular exterior basin contour, this does no longer mean that the interior contour must correspond to this styling. In this way Kaldewei wash basins of the Kaldewei Centro series are characterized by a round interior basin whereas the interior of wall-hung wash basins of other series, like for example the series Kaldewei Puro or Kaldewei Selenio, impress with a rectangular exterior contour.
