History of Geberit GmbH
The origin of today's world concern Geberit for sanitary products is located in St. Gallenkappel in Switzerland. Around the turn of the century, family Gebert began his own production of sanitary installations and produced the first Geberit cistern made of wood. The patent for the wooden rinsing box was registered and the first Geberit rinsing boxes were purchased in Switzerland and the neighboring countries. These were developed and manufactured despite of the First World War, so that the Geberit siphons and siphon valves and float valves were followed shortly after 1918 by Geberit.
The Geberit Group today
What was once a small company in Switzerland today is the European market leader in sanitary engineering. The founding fathers certainly would not have dreamed of it. Today's range of products is much broader than at that time and is evidence of the continuous optimization and expansion of the sanitary products. Today, Geberit can proudly claim that the offer ranges from piping, flushing systems to installation technology, or, in short, Geberit offers everything you need behind the bathroom wall. But that was not enough, and so the company began to deal with the products in front of the wall, and the Geberit product portfolio was recently added to the AquaClean shower toilets, sanitary mounting elements, flush plates and, recently, shower channel and other solutions for floor-level showers.
These products are produced and manufactured in more than 35 production plants and with around 12,000 employees in nearly 50 countries. One can rightly say that the small family business of the Swiss family Geberit is today a globally operating company and an important employer, whose headquarters are still in Switzerland after almost two hundred years.
